Weed Orchid rosettes are back

African Weed Orchid

African Weed Orchid

It is time to be on the look out for the rosettes of African Weed Orchid (Disa bracteata). I spotted some on the weekend. If you come across populations where you haven’t seen them before it would be good to record the sighting on the Victorian Biodiversity Atlas so we can build a picture on how widespread the weed is now. Seems like it is already in many reserves and roadsides on the VVP.

The leaves have a reddish tinge underneath. As with all weed control make sure that you have your identification correct.
