Raising awareness about the value and use of native grasslands, seasonal wetlands, grassy woodlands & other ecosystems on the Victorian Volcanic Plains

A grassland in summer

The kangaroo grass in the Rokewood Cemetery grassland is looking beautiful. Lemon Beauty-heads are flowering and the common and clustered everlastings still have some colour. Pity that some people still think they need to drive through the grassland, despite all the good work the trustees have put in over recent years to fence off the area, provide alternate parking areas and put up signs. The a few weed orchids we missed when there in the spring, are a reminder that weed control is an ongoing job. There is always something interesting to see at this site and worth the time to drop in if you are in the area.
