Raising awareness about the value and use of native grasslands, seasonal wetlands, grassy woodlands & other ecosystems on the Victorian Volcanic Plains

Celebrate International Day for Biological Diversity

The United Nations has proclaimed May 22 The International Day for Biological Diversity to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. The theme this year is Biodiversity and Tourism and it would be great to get more tourism on the volcanic plains.

A well-managed tourist sector can contribute significantly to reducing threats to, and maintain or increase, key wildlife populations and biodiversity values through tourism revenue. It is a bit hard to get enthused about looking at  grasslands in May but there are still birds, vistas and volcanoes.
