Here is the latest report on the stony rises Bio Blitz by Becky McCann, from the Stony Rises Focus Group. Apologies to those of you who have already seen this.
The latest round of The Stony Rises Bio Blitz series confirmed a new breeding population of the elusive Dusky Antechinus, a little marsupial mouse-like carnivore, locally in the Stony Rises country on the Western side of Lake Corangamite.
With the ongoing guidance and expertise of mammal expert Trevor Pescott and fellow members of the Geelong Field Naturalists Club (and their permits to ensure we do all trapping, collecting of data and releasing ethically with the highest care possible for the wildlife), we found 6 different individuals (4 male and 2 female) across 2 different sites on private property, across a 3 day period.
